Re: Executive Director

picture-resizedWe are very excited to introduce you to Smile for a Lifetime’s new Executive Director, Robin Coen. Robin joins us with 30 years of social services and non-profit management. She is a dynamic leader and very passionate about our mission. In fact, she founded a non-profit called Teens with Promise, an organization that helped provide clothing, medical and dental services, school supplies, and holiday gifts to thousands of needy teens during her tenure. She also worked as a supervisor for one of S4L’s national partners, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).

Please take a moment to meet Robin and learn a bit about her in her own words:

As the new Executive Director of the Smile for a Lifetime Foundation (S4L). I am honored to take the reins of this vibrant organization and I look forward to working together to advance our shared mission. I envision a strong partnership that will continue to grow and serve many deserving youth.

I come to Smile for a Lifetime with a new mission and a renewed passion. I am very excited to work with orthodontists across the country to provide braces to disadvantaged youth. I know that improving a young person’s smile is more than a superficial change in appearance. It is an opportunity for them to feel better and approach the world with a stronger sense of confidence and optimism. I look forward to building upon S4L’s foundation and initiating new programs and partnerships. I believe we are poised for a period of unprecedented growth.

Here is a brief list of my initial priorities:

  • Strengthen our central organization to provide greater support to our chapter affiliates
  • Reduce the complexity of the patient application and review processes
  • Establish and maintain more frequent contact with our current chapter affiliates
  • Expand our chapter affiliate network and more efficiently onboard new practices
  • Develop and expand our brand to become recognized as the nation’s premier orthodontic services charity

We have much to do together. I hope you will stay engaged in this work—what you do is important and appreciated! I look forward to interacting more personally with each of you in the days ahead.

Sincerely,

Robin Coen

Smile for a Lifetime introduces a "Two Models of Care" approach for providers…

After careful review of our program, including feedback from our members and an extensive competitive review, the Smile for a Lifetime Foundation is excited to share important updates to our program. You will now be able to choose from two different “models of care” that allow you to be as involved as you want in developing your own chapter or, as an affiliate, to rely on our national office to manage everything but the treatment you provide to your scholars.

Your participation in the S4L program lets you offer services that will change lives while we attend to many of the time-consuming administrative tasks. We will take on the work of processing applications and identifying qualified patients. You gain valuable marketing benefits by using the S4L name, website, logos, brochures and other marketing tools. We can even offer advice and training on how to market your practice more effectively. You are part of a community of professional colleagues who are equally committed to the S4L vision. In the coming months and years, we hope to engage our network of providers in deeper and more collaborative ways by sharing success stories and best practices.

As we modify our organizational structure, we have an exciting opportunity to convey new messages about S4L and how it benefits both patients and providers. We want to emphasize that the new structure will be easy and rewarding for everyone. Our two models offer the flexibility and professional support that allow the provider to do what they do best. Likewise, we will provide support for families as they initiate care and navigate the treatment process. For patients and families our new application process will be simple and straightforward. For our chapters and affiliates, we will offer responsive support to your questions, concerns, and suggestions.
