Alabama

David M. Sarver, DMD, MS

Dr. Sarver received his DMD from The University of Alabama School of Dentistry and M.S. in Orthodontics from the University of North Carolina in 1979. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists, and a Fellow in both the International and American Colleges of Dentists.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Sarver has authored or co authored over 60 scientific articles, 14 book chapters, and his book, "Esthetics in Orthodontics and Orthognathic Surgery" was published in September, 1998. He is also co-author (with Dr. Proffit and White) of the surgical text "Contemporary Treatment of Dentofacial Deformity), published by Elsevier, Inc. and is co-author the 4th edition of Proffit's classic textbook "Contemporary Orthodontics", the most widely used orthodontic text in the world. His 2 part article, coauthored with Dr. Marc Ackerman, on smile analysis won the 2004 B.F. Dewel Award for the best clinical article in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. He has given more than 250 professional presentations in the United States, Europe, Australia and the Middle and Far East including both the Salzmann and Mershon Lectures at the AAO. Dr. Sarver has been featured on NBC's "The Today Show", ABC's "The View", and Fox National News.

David's wife, Valerie, worked 23 years as a Systems engineer with IBM. Their daughter Suzanne is a student, daughter Leigh is a recent graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design, and son Dave is studying Medicine at the University of Alabama.

Alaska

Dr. Todd Wentz

Dr. Wentz spent most of his childhood growing up in Alaska at Fort Richardson and Fort Wainwright; his father was an Army orthodontist. He always knew that he wanted to make Alaska his permanent home; after completing his residency at the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1990 he returned to Alaska as Chief of Orthodontics at Ft. Wainwright. He then opened his private practice in Fairbanks in 1994.

Dr. Wentz has completed additional certifications since his graduation; he is board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and a member of the Angle Society, as well as a participating member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Alaska Dental Society. He volunteers at the Fairbanks Cleft Palate Clinic. Dr. Wentz is also a certified Invisalign provider.

Dr. Wentz and his family enjoy the many outdoor experiences that Alaska has to offer from camping, hunting, and fishing to hockey and skiing. They are proud to support local events such as the annual Tote UAF Museum Family Day, Relay for Life, Summer Fine Arts Camp, and sports activities in which their patients participate.

Dr. John J. Murray

Dr. John Murray grew up in New England the second of four children of an orthodontist. His father’s ability to see his children off to school, come home for lunch and be back home for dinner left a positive impression of his oldest son.

Young John hung around his father’s office. He liked the social interaction and the role his father played in the community. He also realized three dimensional thinking and attention to detail came easily to him.

But young John wanted to see the world and by the time he worked traveling and solo adventuring out of his system and realized he wanted to pursue orthodontics his father had retired. But Dad encouraged John to study dentistry and orthodontics and said he could practice anywhere in the world. He told John the adventure could continue! And it has beyond John’s greatest dreams.

Dr. Murray received his dental degree from Columbia University School of Dental Medicine in 1991, in New York City. He completed a one year General Practice Residency (GPR) at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in the south Bronx, New York, the following year.

Dr. Murray was a Lieutenant in the United States Public Health Service practicing general dentistry when he was accepted in the orthodontic program at Columbia University School of Dental Medicine where he received his Orthodontic Certificate in 1995.

Dr. Murray moved to Anchorage in 1996 and has been practicing orthodontics at one of his two locations ever since.

Dr. Murray is a big believer in continuing education (CE) and being on the leading edge of sound, proven technology. But he has not forgotten that a warm, friendly environment is what leads to a positive experience.

Dr. Todd E. Dickerson
Dr. Dickerson has degrees from Illinois Wesleyan University, Baylor College of Dentistry, Texas A&M University, and West Virginia University. He is a recipient of the American Association of Orthodontists Award and has twice earned Research Fellowship grants. Dr. Dickerson has published and presented both nationally and internationally. Dr. Stuart Frost
Dr. Frost received his dental degree at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry and practiced general dentistry for 5 years – two with his father and three in his own office. Following a one-year fellowship in temporomandibular joint dysfunction, he completed a two-year residency in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at the University of Rochester.

Dr. Frost practices in Mesa, Arizona. He is currently a part-time associate clinical
professor at the University of the Pacific orthodontic program and has lectured on the Damon system at several Damon Forums and other Ormco-sponsored events, including the national American Association of Orthodontists annual session and component meetings and his own Damon in-office seminars.

Dr. Rael Bernstein
Dr. Bernstein was born and raised in South Africa where he attended the prestigious Wits Dental School finishing top of his class. He then went on to complete his orthodontic specialty residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1998.

Following his residency, Dr. Bernstein accepted a fellowship position at the University where he became a clinical assistant professor at the orthodontic department. Having a yearning for a climate more similar to South Africa, and tired of shoveling snow, he relocated to Southern California where he met his wife Debbie, also a dental specialists, a prosthodontist. Dr. Bernstein relocated to Santa Rosa in 2002 to get away from the hustle and bustle of Southern California.

Dr. Bernstein is an avid sportsman and sports fan. He likes to work out, play golf, rugby, snowboard, ride motorcycles and play tennis and is usually game for any new sport. He and his wife like to travel and visit family and occasionally make it back to Africa. Be sure to ask him about his many adventures in the African bush growing up.

As a former orthodontic patient, he not only understands his patient's needs and concerns but also the wonderful benefits of a healthy bite and broad smile. Please feel free to ask him about his own orthodontic experience.

Dr. Bernstein is committed to excellence in orthodontics. He teaches regularly at the Santa Rosa Junior College and gives seminars regularly to the dental community. He has also been invited to teach the Damon System to orthodontists from around the world.

Dr. Kimberly Mahood
Dr. Kimberly Mahood was born in Seoul, South Korea but grew up and spent most of her life in the beautiful bluegrass state of Kentucky. She obtained her dental degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry where she graduated valedictorian of her class. After completing dental school, she furthered her education and clinical experience by obtaining additional training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Advanced General Dentistry. She pursued her passion for creating beautiful smiles by completing the orthodontics residency program at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. During this time she obtained a Masters Degree and was also awarded the Dr. Arthur A. Dugoni Excellence in Research and Scholarly Activities Award.

Upon completing her orthodontic residency program, Dr. Mahood was appointed as a part-time faculty member at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in the Department of Orthodontics. She finds her interaction with the orthodontic residents and dental students truly rewarding, and especially enjoys teaching in the pre-doctoral Invisalign clinic.

She understands the importance of being involved in organized dentistry and maintains her membership in the following organizations: American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, California Dental Association, and the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists.

Dr. Mahood now considers the Bay Area home with her husband, Peter. They enjoy traveling together and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys reading and watching college sports in her spare time.

Dr. Christy Fortney
Dr. Fortney has a passion for dentistry and orthodontics that began when she was 12 years old. She is a San Diego native who grew up in Rancho Berrnardo in a dental family.

Dr. Fortney received her general dental degree in 1988 from Northwestern University and completed a one year dental residency at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago. Tom Pitts, DDS, MSD
Dr. Tom Pitts earned his undergraduate dental education from the University of the
Pacific, School of Dentistry and his orthodontic specialty training from the University of Washington. He served in the Army Dental Corps before starting a private practice in Reno, Nevada. He is past president of the Nevada State Orthodontic Association and the Northern Nevada Dental Society and served on the board of directors of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics. For many years he was a full-time consultant for orthodontic practices. Dr. Pitts is a fellow of the International Academy of Dentistry and the founder of the well-respected Progressive Study Club. He lectures throughout the world on clinical and practice management efficacy and serves as associate clinical professor of orthodontics at the University of Pacific.

He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the Northern Nevada Dental Society, the American Dental Association, the Nevada State Dental Association and the Progressive Study Group.

Dr.Robert Gire
Dr. Robert Gire earned his Bachelors of Science degrees in Biology, Zoology, and Physiology from the University of Wyoming. He then earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry. Dr. Gire graduated in the top 5% of his class and was accepted into the prestigious United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, CO for an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency. Dr. Gire then attended the University of Colorado, School of Dentistry for his Orthodontic specialty training. Since graduation, he has been creating spectacular smiles by utilizing the most recent technological advancements and clinical techniques available. Dr. Eric Wu is a native of Palo Alto, CA and loves to give back to the same community he grew up in. Naturally artistic and creative, Dr. Bishop was drawn to a combination of art and science. Early in his education he set his sights on orthodontics where his sculpture would be the human form. He prefers classic beauty rather than over-styled trends. Attention to detail and preservation of each patient's uniqueness are the hallmarks of his artistic philosophy.

Training

Dr. Bishop is a native of Lampasas, Texas, and was the president of his high school. He did his undergraduate work at Texas A&M University. While attending A&M he was in the Corp of Cadets and vice-president of the premedical and predental society. Dr. Bishop received his DDS degree at the Baylor College of Dentistry where he was also vice-president of his class. After graduation from dental school, Dr. Bishop studied orthodontics at the Baylor College of Dentistry, one of the leading orthodontic training programs in the world. Giving his very gifted father credit, an outstanding surgeon and physician himself, Dr. Bishop was one of the youngest graduates in orthodontics in the United States.

Academic Achievements

Upon graduation, Dr. Bishop did an internship with one of the most outstanding orthodontists in the United States. He was recruited by U.T. Southwestern Medical School to be a member of the world renowned Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Team.
Dr. Bishop has been responsible for the orthodontic training of orthodontists on a local and national level and is recognized nationally as a specialist in orthodontics.

Honors:

Dr. Bishop has been recognized as one of the best orthodontists in the the United States. He has participated as a research doctor for several orthodontic manufacturing companies. He is a graduate of the F.A.C.E. foundation, one of the most distinguished orthodontic institutes in the United States.

John R. Kozlowski, DDS began his journey at SUNY-Buffalo, where he earned a bachelor's degree in sociology. He later earned his D.D.S. from SUNY-Buffalo School of Dentistry in 1970 and obtained his certificate in pedodontics from Children's Hospital two years later. From there, he became the Chief of Pedodontics and Captain in the United States Army until 1974. He attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and earned his certificate in orthodontics in 1982.

Dr. Kozlowski has been in practice for 30 years and with Orthodontic Associates of Southeastern Connecticut since 1982. He is board eligible in orthodontics and belongs to the following professional organizations: New London County Dental Society, Connecticut State Dental Association, American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists. He is licensed with the Northeast Regional Board, Connecticut and New York.

James M. O'Leary, DMD is a lifelong resident of Waterford, Connecticut. He attended Jordan Elementary, Clark Lane Middle and Waterford High School. He received his B.S. degree from The Ohio State University and his DMD degree, Summa Cum Laude from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. While at Tufts, he also completed a comprehensive 2-year specialty training program in orthodontics. In July 2007, Dr. O'Leary became board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. He has been a member of Orthodontic Associates since 1987.

Dr. O'Leary is committed to providing his patients with the highest quality, modern orthodontic care. He is an active member in the American Association of Orthodontics, and he is also past President of the New London County Dental Society. He is founder and president of the New England Damon Study Club. Dr. O'Leary has been a member of the Ormco Insiders, an elite orthodontic research and development team for over 15 years.

Gregory A. Hack, DDS is a graduate of Brown University and the Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery. Following the completion of a one-year general practice residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, Dr. Hack pursued his orthodontic specialty training at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Dr. Hack then joined Orthodontic Associates in October 1991.

Dr. Hack has taken a leadership role in organized dentistry at the local, state, and national levels. He has served as President of the Connecticut State Society of Orthodontists and as President of the New London County Dental Society. At the current time he serves as a Component Director of the Northeastern Society of Orthodontists.

Dr. Dave Daniels

Dr. Dave Daniels attended Vanderbilt University, where he graduated cum laude with a degree in Honors History. Dr. Daniels then earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. Upon graduation from dental school, he received both a Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and a Master's Degree in Dental Research from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts.

"Dr. Dave" is dedicated to providing a high quality of personalized orthodontic care. He regularly attends continuing education courses in order to provide advanced treatment planning and mechanics to all of his patients. Dr. Daniels is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, and the Connecticut State Dental Society.

Orthodontics is the second career for Dr. Daniels. After graduating from Vandy, he spent six years as a professional baseball player in the Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, and San Diego Padres organizations. As a sidearm-pitching reliever, he was called upon usually to "save" victories for his teams!

Dr. Daniels is extremely passionate about working with children. "Helping a young person smile is a wonderful gift, and I am truly fortunate to have this opportunity," he says. During his free time away from private practice, he enjoys hosting free baseball clinics and speaking to youth groups on the importance of balancing sports with education.

Stephen W. Bradford, a graduate of Louisiana State University with a Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics, has practiced in Palm Beach Gardens since 1991. He received the Dale B. Wade Award from the American Board of Orthodontics in 2001. Dr. Bradford is a board certified orthodontist and prides himself in the quality care of patients. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists and the Florida Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Stevens found his ‘calling’ for orthodontics at an early age. Born and raised in Miami, Dr. Stevens was inspired by his own orthodontist and worked for him in high school. He completed his pre-dental studies at the University of Florida in two years, spent his third year of college in Europe as an exchange student, and then entered dental school at the University of Florida. Graduating at the top of his class (with high honors), he then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for his orthodontic education where he received his Masters of Science in Dentistry and Certificate in Orthodontics.

Realizing that Florida was his home, he returned to allow Dr. Irving Fleet, Tallahassee’s first orthodontist, the opportunity to retire in 1986.

Dr. Stevens has been blessed to be married to Valorie since 1986. They have three extraordinary children, Austin, Cody and Emily.

Dr. Stevens grew up around the water and won many water skiing championships in the 70’s. Since then he has been involved in his church and a leader in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He is a former martial artist (3rd degree black belt in TaeKwonDo) and is fond of aviation (private pilot), scuba diving, snow skiing and snowboarding. His hobbies include reading and computers, and he takes pride in maintaining the computer system in the office.

Dr. Stevens has been very involved in organized dentistry, being President of the Leon County Dental Association, the Northwest District (of Florida) Dental Association and he also served as President of the Florida Association of Orthodontists. Since 1995, Dr. Stevens has been involved in the graduate orthodontic program at the University of Florida as a Clinical Assistant Professor. While primarily involved in the clinical training of future orthodontists, he also has lectured to the residents in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program at the University of Florida and Shands – Jacksonville.

In 1996, Dr. Stevens became the first orthodontist in Tallahassee history to become certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists. Board certification is optional in orthodontics, and only about 1 in 4 orthodontists successfully complete the rigorous certification process.

As an orthodontist, Dr. Stevens considers himself fortunate to work with the many outstanding dentists and dental specialists in Tallahassee, as well as his highly experienced and talented team. He strives to think of each patient as a member of his family, and carefully considers what would be the best treatment for each individual.

Dr. Fravel was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. Following graduation from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, Dr. Fravel worked with a group practice in south Florida until opening his private practice in Orlando in 1987. Dr. Jeff Serff
Jeff Serff is a graduate of Brookstone School in Columbus, Georgia. He earned his bachelors of science degree in Microbiology from the University of Georgia and graduated with honors from the Medical College of Georgia, School of Dentistry in 2000.

In 2001, he completed the General Practice Residency at the Medical College of Georgia, Hospital and Clinics, where he became proficient in treating medically compromised patients in the operating room environment, minor dentoalveolar surgery, I.V. conscious sedation, and dental implant placement and restoration.

Dr. Serff became a clinical instructor in the Department of Oral Diagnosis and Patient Services at the School of Dentistry where he was responsible for assisting students in diagnosis and treatment planning. He instructed and assisted students in the dental school Emergency Clinic and published a handbook titled, 'Emergency Care for the Dental Patient', still utilized by students today. Dr. Serff maintained a relationship with the General Practice Residency by serving as the Assistant Program Director for one year. Dr. Serff completed his orthodontic specialty training at the Medical College of Georgia.

Dr. Lekht attended Rutgers State University where she graduated with highest honors. After completing a general practice residency in 2007-2008 at Newark Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, NJ, Dr. Lekht earned her Certificate in Orthodontics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in their 3-year program. It is here that she obtained her Masters of Dental Science Degree. In addition to her educational accomplishments, Dr. Lekht has had the privilege to work with Dr. Frank Bogdan over the past 3 years who is one of leading Damon System Braces lecturers/teachers in the world. It was this extensive Damon System training and her director of orthodontics' recommendation as "one of the top residents to graduate from our program in the last 10 years" that confirmed Dr. Lekht was the perfect fit for our orthodontic team. Dr. Childers was born and raised in Marion, Illinois. He graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Biological Sciences. He then received his Dental Degree from the University of Kentucky and his Master's Degree in Orthodontics from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Childers established his practice in Benton, in 1990.

Dr. Childers is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). The ABO is the only organization for the specialty of orthodontics that is recognized by the American Dental Association and sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists. Currently only 25% of the nation's orthodontists are Board Certified.

Dr. Childers is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and of the American Dental Association as well as the state and local chapters. Dr. Childers has held various offices, including president of the executive committee for the Southern Illinois Dental Society. He is also an active member of a dental study club in St. Louis. Dr. Barry Booth
Dr. Barry Booth has been a practicing orthodontic specialist in Homer Glen since 1986. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery, Specialist Certificate and Master of Science in Orthodontics at the University of Illinois. He currently returns to the University of Illinois as an occasional, volunteer clinical instructor in the Department of Orthodontics.

From 1988-91, Dr. Booth was part of a surgical orthodontic team with Cook County Hospital in Chicago, treating patients with accident-related injuries and birth defects as well as facial and dental deformities. Dr Harrington is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. He was born and raised in South Bend IN. He graduated high school from Saint Joseph High School in 1993. Dr. Jeremy Fry graduated from Olathe East in 1995 where he was active in sports and music. He then attended the University of North Carolina, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology in 1999 and his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) in 2003. He was awarded the Pierre Fauchard Outstanding Senior Dental Student Award. He completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Southern California and received his Masters Degree in Craniofacial Biology in 2006. Dr. Jeremy is very happy to be back in his hometown with his wife, Nicki, and young daughters, Caroline and Lily. Dr. Robert Fry
Dr. Bob Fry, founder of Fry Orthodontics, graduated from the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Dentistry in the top 1% of his class, receiving his MS (Master of Science) degree in Orthodontics from the University of North Carolina.

Dr. Fry remains active in the research and development of advanced technologies and is an international lecturer on advanced orthodontic techniques. His expertise has benefited over 30,000 smiles since 1977. Dr. Fry is very active with the YMCA in Olathe and in 2008 was named Olathe Citizen of the Year. He and his wife, Mary, enjoy spending time with their grown children, Whitney and Jeremy, as well as being proud grandparents.

In 1977, Dr. Fry began private practice in the Kansas City area. Three years in a row, Fry Orthodontics was awarded the highest ranking by the Kansas Award for Excellence. Fry Orthodontics is the only orthodontic office to ever receive or be considered for this honor. Qualifying for this award allows Fry Orthodontics to compete for the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige Award.

Fry Orthodontics continually conducts extensive orthodontic studies, resulting in several publications. Fry Orthodontics has participated in numerous Alpha Test Projects including:

Dr. Fry has invented many orthodontic appliances and techniques and lectures both nationally and internationally on orthodontic treatment procedures and practice management. All honoraria from these efforts are donated to charity.

He currently maintains a position of Adjunct Clinical Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Southern California (USC) and the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. He served as the President of the Kansas Dental Association in 1987. In 2002 he received the Martin L. (Bud) Schulman Award for highest achievement in the Orthodontic Profession.

Dr. Fry is very involved in local, national and international charity efforts. He has served as a member of several international medical teams, taking him to countries such as Haiti, Russia, and India. He is a Fellow of the AAO Foundation, as one of the first of ten orthodontists to demonstrate commitment at this highest level. In 2008 Dr. Fry was awarded the Pinnacle Award by the Johnson County Library Foundation for Advocacy and Public Engagement.

He resides in Olathe with Mary, his wife of 38 years. Their son, Jeremy, joined Fry Orthodontics in the spring of 2006. Their daughter, Whitney, has a Masters degree in International Public Health lives in Amman, Jordan where she does relief work.

YMCA Volunteer
In April of 1991, Dr. Fry brought together 12 community members in his living room to explore building a youth center in the Olathe Community. This dream resulted in the Olathe Family YMCA. Dr. Fry was so passionate for this cause that he encouraged his patients to help out: His challenge to them was to raise at least $3,000 dollars for the Olathe Family YMCA, and in turn the patients could shave his head completely!

That day came on Thursday, April 4, when Dr. Fry was handcuffed, put into a police car and escorted by city police to the barber. His charge? The $5,207 piled high in a fishbowl was enough proof that it was Dr. Fry’s time to fulfill his end of the bargain. The inevitable electric razor sheered off locks of his rainbow dyed hair as giggling patients and children in the community who had raised the money looked on.

Dr. Fry was selected as the Greater Kansas City YMCA Volunteer of the Year and has served as Chairman of the Greater Kansas City YMCA.

Game Show Contestant

“Bob Fry, come on down!” Little did Dr. Fry know when he made plans to attend a team-building seminar with his staff in Los Angeles that he would return home a Showcase Showdown winner on the “Price is Right.” The staff urged him to go along with them to be audience members, even though he said that he’d rather just go back to the hotel and sleep. When he heard his name called near the end of the show, Dr. Fry thought it was all a bad dream, and that he was certain to make a fool of himself on stage. In fact, Dr. Fry walked away in shock with $22,000 in prizes!

After discussing the winnings with his family and staff, Dr. Fry decided to give back to the community by donating winnings to five local charities: the Olathe YMCA, Heart to Heart International Inc., Olathe Region United Way, Olathe Public Schools Foundation, and Living Hope Church of the Nazarene. Dr. Fry is pleased that his entire staff is devoted to community service and to improving the quality of life for others.

Dr. Larissa
Dr. Larissa Freytag graduated in 2002 from the University of Florida, with honors, with a Bachelor of Science in Statistics.

She graduated second in her class from the University of Pennsylvania where she received a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and earned the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry Award. She completed her residency program in Orthodontics at the University of Missouri, Kansas City (UMKC). Dr. Larissa is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontics and is a certified Invisalign provider.

Dr. Larissa enjoys hiking, reading, traveling and spending time with her husband, Erik.

Dr. Ronald Toothman

Dr. Ronald Toothman has been practicing orthodontics exclusively since 1977. He received his B.A. from Lehigh University and his D.M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. After receiving his dental degree, Dr. Toothman spent two years practicing orthodontics with his father prior to completing his orthodontic specialty training at the Eastman Dental Center.
Dr. Toothman is an active member of the National and Constituent Societies of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists. He is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics. In addition, he is a member of the Schulman Study Group, which is limited to 125 top orthodontic practitioners in the country.

Dr. Thomas Barra

Dr. Thomas Barra has been practicing orthodontics exclusively since 1985. Dr. Jeffrey Toothman

Dr. Jeffrey Toothman has been practicing orthodontics exclusively since 2009. Born in Hagerstown, he is a graduate of Smithsburg High School. He received his B.A. from Bucknell University and his D.D.S. from the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. After receiving his dental degree, Dr. Toothman completed a 2 year research fellowship studying temporomandibular joint dysfunction and orofacial pain at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center. He went on to receive his orthodontic specialty training from Eastman before moving back to his hometown.
Dr. Toothman is an active member of the National and Constituent Societies of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists. He is a part-time faculty member at Hagerstown Community College, where he teaches the orthodontic assisting course. He oversees the Mason-Dixon Chapter of the national Smile for a Lifetime foundation, and is very excited to watch it grow in the community.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Dr. Toothman likes to stay active in community outreach organizations. Being from the area, he appreciates the importance of helping his community. In his spare time Dr. Toothman enjoys biking, swimming, boxing, and skiing (snow and water). He and his wife, Cathleen, are eagerly anticipating the birth of their first child, who is due in September.

Bandeen Orthodontics

Dr. Timothy Bandeen is from Battle Creek, Michigan. He attended Central Michigan University as a Centralis Scholar and graduated Summa Cum Laude. He completed his D.D.S. at The University of Michigan where he graduated with honors. He went to The University of Tennessee for his specialty training and M.S. in orthodontics. After completing his residency, he worked for a year with an orthodontic practice in Southaven, Mississippi and served on the faculty at The University of Tennessee in the orthodontics department. He has been practicing in Battle Creek, Michigan since May 2006.

Dr. Emily Bandeen is from Chattanooga, Tennessee. She attended The University of Richmond where she graduated with a B.A. in Religious Studies with a concentration in ethics and a minor in biology. Dr. Emily was an All American and All Conference for the Atlantic 10 in swimming while she was a member of The University of Richmond NCAA division I swim team. As a senior she was elected by her fellow swimmers to the position of team captain. She then went to The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry where she received her D.D.S. in 2006. While at The University of Tennessee, she was a charter member of the local chapter of the American Association of Women Dentists where she served as chapter Secretary, Vice-President, and then President. From 2006 to 2009 she worked for the National Health Service Corps. She joined Bandeen Orthodontics in 2009.

Dr. Ross Stryker
After completing his undergraduate studies at Kansas State University, Dr. Ross Stryker attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry and graduated in 1982. He served his country in the military for 12 years; eight as a general dentist. He received his orthodontic training in the military from 1990 to 1992 and served his last four years as an orthodontist.

Dr. Stryker stays abreast of the latest advances in orthodontics with memberships in the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association and the Greater Springfield Dental Society, where he serves on the board as Secretary. Dr. Richard Meyer
Dr. Richard Meyer is a native of South Dakota and graduated with honors from Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago. He completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Dr. Rich started his private practice in Rapid City in 1981. He considers all of his patients part of his family. Dr. Rich truly cares about his patients and enjoys his time with them. Dr. Rich and his wife, Gayla, have three children: Chad, Kirsten and Tyler, and six grandchildren. He enjoys taking his grandchildren on adventure trips and teaching them about all the Black Hills has to offer. In his free time, Dr. Rich likes to play racquetball, fly fish, and snow shoe.

Dr. Chad Meyer
Dr. Chad Meyer is a Rapid City native who graduated from Stevens High School in 1990. He attended college at the University of Nebraska and graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Dentistry in 1999. After three years in the United States Air Force Dental Corp, he began his orthodontic residency at Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, NY. Dr. Chad and his wife, Dawn, have three children: Carter, Luke, and Daryn. Dr. Chad loves to chat with the patients, but if you mention biking to him, your appointment might run long. He loves to talk cycling! When Dr. Chad is not taking care of patients, he enjoys taking his kids camping, hunting, and snow skiing. He is also an avid road cyclist.

Dr. Jesse Dana
Dr. Jesse Dana is a native South Dakotan and a graduate of Black Hills State University. He graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. He completed his orthodontic residency at Nova Southeastern University in Florida. Dr. Jesse started his orthodontic practice in Spearfish in 2003. We were honored to have Dr. Jesse join the team in 2007. Dr. Jesse and his wife Traci have three children: Kooper, Jozie, and Kanon. Dr. Jesse spends time with his family enjoying outdoor activities. Dr. Jesse has a strong basketball history and still enjoys the game. He also enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, bike riding, tennis and racquetball. Dr. Terry Giangreco received his B.A. degree from Rutgers University, where he majored in art. Even today, Dr. Giangreco uses his artistic talents to create the most beautiful smiles possible. He attended the University of Buffalo Dental School and then completed orthodontic training at Northwestern University. Dr. Giangreco has been a member of the Craniofacial Team at Strong Memorial Hospital. Dr. Giangreco lives in Webster with his wife Tricia and their two sons, Vincenzo and Domenic. He enjoys golf and is an avid waterskier and began competing in slalom in 2010.

Janis P. Preston, D.D.S.
Dr. Janis Preston began her career in dentistry as a dental assistant while in high school. That is when she developed a passion for "getting it straight". After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Buffalo, Dr Preston continued her education at Howard University - College of Dentistry in Washington, D. C. She completed her post-doctoral specialty training in orthodontics, also at Howard University. Dr. Preston joined our practice in 2005 and has been a great asset to the Get-It-Straight Team. Dr. Preston and her husband Brad live in Webster with their two sons, Blake and Cody. She enjoys snow skiing and golf.

Dr.Suzanne Cassata, D.D.S.
Dr. Suzanne Cassata started her career as a Dental Hygienist. After attending the University of Buffalo Dental program, Dr. Cassata received her Orthodontic Certification from the Eastman Dental Center at the University of Rochester. Following her father's footsteps, Dr. Cassata joined him in private practice in 1991 and is a highly regarded orthodontist in the Greece area. Dr. Cassata joined the Get-It-Straight Team in 2009 and compliments our practice with her commitment to orthodontic excellence.
Dr. Cassata and her husband Ray live in Chili with their three sons Kyle, Justin, and Tyler. Whenever she isn't creating beautiful smiles, she is spending quality time with her busy family.

Dr.J. Ronald Cortese, D.D.S.
Dr. Ron Cortese received his undergraduate and dental degree from the University of Buffalo. He served his residency in the U.S. Army in Germany. Dr Cortese then returned to Rochester to practice general dentistry for 8 years. He fulfilled his ultimate goal by returning to school to complete his postgraduate degree in orthodontics at Columbia University. Dr Cortese established our practice in 1971. He has been on the teaching staff at Strong Memorial Hospital, Genesee Hospital and MCC.

He is married to Jenny and together they have four beautiful girls, the twins Samara and Seriann, their younger sister Delaney and the youngest Norah. He has been in orthodontic practice in Charlotte, NC since 1989.

Dr. Paquette graduated in 1979 from UNC- School of Dentistry with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He received a Master's in Pediatric Dentistry from UNC in 1983. His Master's thesis won the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Graduate Research Award that same year. Dr. Paquette is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and served as a consultant in Pediatric Dentistry for the United States Air Force in Europe and Asia until 1987. He received his orthodontic training at St. Louis University Department of Orthodontics where he obtained his Master's degree and specialty certificate in orthodontics in January 1989. His Master's thesis in orthodontics won the coveted Milo Hellman award in 1990. It is presented annually to only one orthodontist worldwide. In addition, Dr. Paquette is also board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.

Dr. Paquette has written and published multiple articles for scientific journals as well as contributed chapters to two orthodontic textbooks. He is frequently requested to lecture both domestically and worldwide. He is actively involved in ongoing research as a consultant to leading orthodontic products manufacturers. Dr. B. Keith Black
Dr. Keith Black along with his wife, Susan (native of Boone, NC) and their three daughters have called western North Carolina home for over twenty years. Before starting his practice in the Asheville area, Dr. Black attended Emory University where he attained his B.S. in Chemistry in 1979, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he attained his D.D.S. degree in 1983 and continued his education at UNC to receive his M.S. degree specializing in orthodontics in 1986.

Throughout his career, Dr. Black is proud to say that his practice is always on the "cutting edge" of orthodontics by providing his patients with the latest technology and treatment options available. Todd H. Rankin, DDS, PA
New Bern, NC has been home to Dr. Rankin since beginning his orthodontic practice in 1993. His passion for orthodontics began at a young age in his father's office, who still practices orthodontics to this day. Dr. Richard Gorman

Dr. Gorman was raised in the Winterville community of eastern North Carolina. He graduated from the University of North Carolina with a BS degree and attended the UNC School of Dentistry where he received his DDS degree.
After serving in the Air Force for two years and practicing as a general dentist for another two years, Dr. Gorman entered the orthodontic program at the UNC School of Dentistry, earning a Master of Science in Orthodontics (MSO) in 1972. Dr. Gorman then started a solo orthodontic practice in New Bern and Havelock which continued for the next 37 years until becoming affiliated with Dr. Rankin.
He has previously served as president of both the UNC Dental Alumni Association and the UNC Orthodontic Alumni Association.
Currently, Dr. Gorman and his wife Linda live in Trentwoods. They have two married children with wonderful spouses and six special grandchildren. He enjoys both land and water sports and is an avid UNC sports fan.

Dr. Mike Mayhew and Dr. Nicole Scheffler

Dr. Michael Mayhew is the first dual-trained and dual-certified professional to practice both specialties in North Carolina. He is board-certified in both pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. Dr. Mayhew's unique expertise in both pediatric dentistry and orthodontics allows him to meet and work with many children and adults.

A native of Lexington, NC, Dr. Mayhew played collegiate basketball and graduated cum laude from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC, with a Bachelor's of Science degree in chemistry. Following college, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Science degree, as well as his specialty degree and Master's of Science degree in pediatric dentistry. Following three years of private practice as a pediatric dentist in Boone, Dr. Mayhew returned to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received his specialty diploma and Master's of Science degree in orthodontics.
Dr. Mayhew enjoys giving back to his alma maters. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees at Catawba College. He also serves as a part-time clinical assistant professor at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. In addition to teaching future dentists, Dr. Mayhew holds leadership roles within professional groups, including the sports medicine team at Appalachian State University and as an advisor to orthodontic equipment and software companies. Dr. Mayhew has lectured throughout the U.S. and participated in the 2005 International Damon Symposium in Monte Carlo. He is a past president of the North Carolina Orthodontic Alumni Association and the North Carolina Academy of Pediatric Dentists. He routinely participates and leads community activities, recently serving as chairman of the Watauga Educational Foundations' "Our Children, Our Future" campaign, raising money to assist teachers in providing optimal education opportunities for children.

In his spare time, Dr. Mayhew enjoys spending time with his wife, Sara, and their three children: Kelly, John and Katherine. A former college athlete, Dr. Mayhew has coached and participated in local basketball teams and plays golf regularly.

Dr. Nicole R. Scheffler graduated with high honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and a minor in Art from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. There she also played Division I basketball and was a high jumper/triple jumper on the track and field team. Dr. Scheffler earned her dental degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with honors with distinction and also received numerous awards for her academic, leadership and research accomplishments. She remained at UNC-Chapel Hill for her orthodontic education as an Andrew McArthur Brooks Fellow and received both a Certificate in Orthodontics and a masters degree from one of the most well-respected and prestigious orthodontic programs in the world. Dr. Scheffler has continued her affiliation with the Orthodontic department at UNC as an adjunct associate professor where she continues to work on research and teach clinical aspects of orthodontics. Dr. Scheffler has also lectured nationally on some of the latest orthodontic clinical procedures and has published a few of her clinical research projects.

Dr. Scheffler is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a certifying body that honors orthodontists with only the highest standards of orthodontic care and she is an active member of many professional associations.
Dr. Scheffler and her husband, Craig, have a daughter, Brooke. When she isn't creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Scheffler enjoys hiking, traveling, photography, participating in many sporting activities and spending time with her family. Dr. William Claypoole

William H Claypoole, DMD is married to Val Rhae and has three grown children that live in central North Carolina. His son, Chris, is in general dental practice in the Durham area.

Dr. Claypoole is a 1969 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Steve Bumgarner, D.D.S.
A native of North Carolina, Dr. Steve Bumgarner, was born in Burlington and spent his childhood in Charlotte. His family then moved north and Steve later attended college at the University of Maryland, where he received a B.S. in Biology. He went on to attend the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery where he received numerous honors and awards for both academic and clinical excellence. An elected member of the Omricon Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society and recipient of the American Association of Orthodontist Award, Dr. Bumgarner graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree in 1999. Following graduation from dental school, he completed a general practice residency at the VA hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Bumgarner then completed a two and a half year post-graduate residence in Orthodontics at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA, where he received his certificate in orthodontics. His memberships include: The American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, Raleigh-Wake County Dental Society, the American Association of Orthodontist, the Southern Association of Orthodontist, the North Carolina Association of Orthodontist, the Christian Medical and Dental Association, the Christian Dental Association and the Raleigh Chapter of the Seattle Study Club, where he is the orthodontic mentor. Dr. Bumgarner has formerly served as President of the North Carolina Dental Society Fourth District. He is also board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics, a distinction attained by fewer than 40% of orthodontists nationwide. Dr. Bumgarner also strives to stay on the cutting edge with patient care and changes in ortho technology by taking two to three times of the state licensing board's required number of continuing education hours.

His interests include golf, soccer, triathlons, and watching ACC basketball. Dr. Bumgarner routinely participates in dental mission trips to countries in Latin and South America, such as Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua and Ecuador. He volunteers for the Wake Smiles Dental Clinic in downtown Raleigh. Dr. Bumgarner has lectured to the orthodontic residents at UNC and hopes in the future to be able to continue giving back to the dental profession by teaching on a part time basis.

Dr. Bumgarner and his wife, Nancy, also a NC native, are thrilled to be back in their home state. Nancy grew up in Brevard, NC and graduated from UNC. She and Dr. Bumgarner are the proud parents of Will, Katie and Emily , and they love spending time together as a family.

Mark E. Hixson, D.D.S.
Dr. Mark E. Hixson has been in the specialty practice of orthodontics in Wake County for over 25 years. In 1970, he received a B.A. in Chemistry at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.), in 1974, after being awarded a Health Services Scholarship by the Department of Defense. Dr. Hixson received his orthodontic certificate and Master's Degree from Marquette University in 1981. He practiced dentistry and orthodontics in the U.S. Army for 11 years where he taught a General Practice Residency as Chief of Clinic and rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel. He came to the Raleigh area in 1985 to join Dr. Arthur Stone in Orthodontics. As an author, his work has been published in the American Journal of Orthodontics. He is a member of such prestigious organizations as the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Wake County Dental Society and the North Carolina Dental Society.

He gives back to the community by doing volunteer work for the Coastal Conservation Association, coaching and financially supporting youth sporting teams, serving charitable foundations, including the Anthony J. Trentini Foundation for Wake Forest-Rolesville High School, and supporting Christian mission trips.

He has been married to Gipsie Warren Hixson of Reidsville, NC for over 35 years who blessed him with two sons, Kris and Todd, both grown. He was blessed in March of 2009 with a gorgeous granddaughter, Mary-Knowles Hixson. In his spare time, he loves to fish, participate in Bible study, and follow the Tar Heels. Robert B. Campbell, DDS, PA
Dr. Campbell began practicing orthodontics and serving the great coastal community of Wilmington, NC in 2002. At the time, he joined his well respected partner and friend, Dr. William H. Craig, who established the practice in 1986. It was after several years of practicing together that Dr. Craig was diagnosed with leukemia, which eventually took his life. While Dr. Campbell experienced the deep loss of a great friend, he saw it as his mission to continue the legacy that Dr. Craig had established...providing great service and outstanding orthodontic care to children and adults is southeastern North Carolina.

Reynolds Orthodontics
Dr. Mark Reynolds is an orthodontist in Greensboro, NC. He began private practice in 2002. He and his wife have four children.

Dr. Reynolds is an honors graduate of the Ohio State University and the University of Maryland (Baltimore College of Dental Surgery). Alena R Spielberg
Dr. Alena Spielberg knew at the age of 13 that she wanted to be an orthodontist. She was fascinated by the process of straightening teeth and how much it affects the way a person looks and feels about themselves. Becoming an orthodontist has allowed her to convey these feelings to her patients.

Dr. Spielberg grew up in Southern New Jersey. She graduated Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA with a BS in Mathematics. While at Dickinson, she played #1 on the tennis team and was elected as team captain for 3 years. She competed at the NCAA Division 3 National Doubles Championships in Minnesota where she finished 5th nationally. She received her DMD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997 and went on to receive her certificate in Orthodontics from Tufts University in 1999. She is active in several local dental associations as well as the AAO and SAO.

She opened her orthodontic practice in Apex, North Carolina in 2001. She lives in Apex with husband Todd, a general dentist, and children Courtney and Ethan. Dr. Spielberg continues to play competitive tennis in many USTA leagues. She also enjoys cooking, going to the gym, and photographing her children.

Dr. Dickens earned his DDS degree with Distinction at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill in 2003. His achievements in dental school include being elected into OKY Dental Honor Society and receiving the Edgar Baker Research Fellowship. Through this fellowship, Dr. Dickens was involved in research on long-term facial esthetics which was subsequently published in The World Journal of Orthodontics and cited in multiple textbooks and journals. He also completed his orthodontic residency and masters degree at UNC - Chapel Hill, where he was awarded the G. Randolph Babcock Fellowship and became Chief Resident in his final year of school. He is recognized for his contributions to the 4th edition of Contemporary Orthodontics, the world's most widely published and used orthodontic textbook. All of these achievements came while rabidly cheering for his beloved Tar Heels!

In 2008, Dr. Dickens joined Dr. Gary Starr's practice, Starr Orthodontics in Matthews, NC. Dr. Papandreas is a native of Cleveland. Born in Lyndhurst, the middle of five children, his parents moved to Lakewood where he attended Lakewood High School.

Dr. Philip J. Tighe is a native of Allentown, Pennsylvania and is proud to be a descendant of ancestors living in the Lehigh Valley for over five generations. He is a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Muhlenberg College, Temple University School of Dentistry and Georgetown University Graduate School of Orthodontics.

He served three years in the service as a dentist during the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of Lt. Commander. He worked two years at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland as a dental research associate. Dr. Tighe is a board-certified orthodontist who has been in the private practice of orthodontics in Allentown for over 30 years. He is past president of the Lehigh County Dental Society and past president of the Lehigh Valley Orthodontic Society. He is a member of the Alumni Board of Temple University School of Dentistry and was recently honored by the Dean as the "Distinguished Alumni."

When not providing orthodontic care, Dr. Tighe enjoys biking, golf, gardening and wood working.

His wife, Cathy, also works part-time in the office and helps with bookkeeping and payroll. They have been married for 40 years and are the proud parents of two grown sons.

Dr. Philip L. Tighe is a graduate of Central Catholic High School, the University of Richmond, Temple University School of Dentistry and New York University Graduate School of Orthodontics. Prior to studying orthodontics, he completed two years of general practice residency. The first year was at the University of Tennessee Medical Center and the second year at York General Hospital.

He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association. He is a Diplomate of the America Board of Orthodontics and serves as the Division Chief of Orthodontics at Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was a director of the Lehigh Valley Dental Association and is Second District Representative to the Pennsylvania Dental Association-New Dentist Committee.

His interests include golfing, skiing, biking and spending time with his wife Jenha. She is a surgical nurse in Allentown. They recently completed their first triathlon together.

Dr. Robert W. Tighe

Dr. Robert W. Tighe is a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Villanova University-Temple University School of Dentistry and Temple University Graduate School of Orthodontics. Hello, and welcome to our family practice! I love my profession as an orthodontist because I am able to grow my patients into the smile that they have always wanted. From start to finish I am up for the challenge of making them happy with their orthodontic result.

Before I became an orthodontist, I was a lieutenant in the Navy Dental Corps for two years prior to going to orthodontic school. I spent one year at the Orlando Naval Hospital and my second year with the first Marine air wing in Iwakuni, Japan. I then completed my BS from Muhlenburg College before attaining my DDS from Temple University. I received my Orthodontic Certificate from Temple University as well.

For over 30 years, I have made continuing education a high priority so that I can provide state-of-the-art orthodontics to my patients and be current on all new procedures that will benefit my patients. I know that I can only provide the highest quality services if I know of the latest techniques and methods. That is why I consider my continuing education an essential part of providing exceptional care to our families.

My profession allows me to meet interesting adults and great kids and families. I am blessed to be able to help them achieve beautiful smiles that will be part of them for the rest of their life. Each person has their own story and over the time of treatment I am privileged to learn more about who my patients are. I love to hear where they are going on vacation, about new jobs and babies - all the things that comprise individual and family life. I like to get to know them and work together on their treatment.

My wife, MaryAnn, and I have been married for 30 years! We have four sons. My oldest one, Rob, is in practice with me. My other sons are Ben, Gabe and Peter. My wife and I also have a Newfoundland named Utley, a Golden Retriever named Molly, and three cats: Sasha, Angelo and Rose. In my spare time I love to build and fly radio control airplanes. I also enjoy hunting, fishing, and working on my farm in Schaefferstown. I am a big Hershey Bears and Philadelphia Phillies fan!

Dr. Ronald Toothman has been practicing orthodontics exclusively since 1977. He received his B.A. from Lehigh University and his D.M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Jeffrey Toothman has been practicing orthodontics exclusively since 2009. Born in Hagerstown, he is a graduate of Smithsburg High School. He received his B.A. from Bucknell University and his D.D.S. from the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. After receiving his dental degree, Dr. Toothman completed a 2 year research fellowship studying temporomandibular joint dysfunction and orofacial pain at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center. He went on to receive his orthodontic specialty training from Eastman before moving back to his hometown.
Dr. Toothman is an active member of the National and Constituent Societies of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists. He is a part-time faculty member at Hagerstown Community College, where he teaches the orthodontic assisting course. He oversees the Mason-Dixon Chapter of the national Smile for a Lifetime foundation, and is very excited to watch it grow in the community.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Dr. Toothman likes to stay active in community outreach organizations. Being from the area, he appreciates the importance of helping his community. Dr. A.G. Burris has been providing orthodontic care in the Lowcountry for over 30 years. He received his DDS from the University of Tennessee, served as valedictorian of his graduating class, and completed his residency @ UT College of Dentistry in Memphis. Dr. Thomas

Dr. Goody Thomas was born in Rock Hill, S.C., and attended Winthrop Training School and graduated from Rock Hill High School. He received his B.S. and M. S. degree from Clemson University. After graduating from Clemson, Dr. Thomas entered the United States Air Force Pilot Training Program and earned his wings in 1973. He also served as a pilot in Vietnam. Dr. Thomas entered the Medical University School of Dentistry in Charleston in 1975 and graduated in 1978. Following his dental training, Dr. Thomas entered the Medical College of Georgia and received two post doctorate degrees: one in Pediatric Dentistry and one in Orthodontics.

Following his residency, Dr. Thomas served as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the Medical College of Georgia from 1983-1988 and is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Thomas is a Board Certified Orthodontist and a member of many professional dental organizations, has served on The Board of Deacons at Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, Board of Directors of the Speech and Hearing Clinic, American Red Cross, a member of the Rotarian Club and past president of South Carolina Association of Orthodontists.

Dr. Tripp Leitner

Dr. Tripp Leitner, III is a native of Rock Hill and graduated from Northwestern High School in 1996. He went on to receive his bachelor's degree in biology from the Honors Program at The Citadel and graduated magna cum laude. He then stayed in Charleston to attend dental school at MUSC and upon graduation was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society.

In keeping with his lifelong goal of becoming an Orthodontist, Dr. Leitner continued training in New Orleans, Louisiana at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. Here he completed a two year three months residency in the specialty of Orthodontics. After completion of his first year in residency, he was awarded the Louisiana Association of Orthodontist J. Jerome Herbert Award, which is given to the top first year resident. Currently, he is serving as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Orthodontists at the Medical University of South Carolina and is enjoying practicing back in his hometown.

James E. Kelley, II, D.M.D.

Dr. Kelley attended Wake Forest University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. degree in biology. After college, he received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia, where he also went on to receive a post-graduate degree in the specialty of orthodontics. Dr. Kelley comes from a family of dentists. His father is a pediatric dentist in Atlanta, and his sister practices general dentistry in Athens, Georgia.

Dr. Kelley is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and serves as the orthodontic advisor to the Carolina Dental Forum. Dr. Richard Meyer
Dr. Richard Meyer is a native of South Dakota and graduated with honors from Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago. He completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Dr. Rich started his private practice in Rapid City in 1981. He considers all of his patients part of his family. Dr. Rich truly cares about his patients and enjoys his time with them. Dr. Rich and his wife, Gayla, have three children: Chad, Kirsten and Tyler, and six grandchildren. He enjoys taking his grandchildren on adventure trips and teaching them about all the Black Hills has to offer. In his free time, Dr. Rich likes to play racquetball, fly fish, and snow shoe.

Dr. Chad Meyer
Dr. Chad Meyer is a Rapid City native who graduated from Stevens High School in 1990. He attended college at the University of Nebraska and graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Dentistry in 1999. After three years in the United States Air Force Dental Corp, he began his orthodontic residency at Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, NY. Dr. Chad and his wife, Dawn, have three children: Carter, Luke, and Daryn. Dr. Chad loves to chat with the patients, but if you mention biking to him, your appointment might run long. He loves to talk cycling! When Dr. Chad is not taking care of patients, he enjoys taking his kids camping, hunting, and snow skiing. He is also an avid road cyclist.

Dr. Jesse Dana
Dr. Jesse Dana is a native South Dakotan and a graduate of Black Hills State University. He graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. He completed his orthodontic residency at Nova Southeastern University in Florida. Dr. Jesse started his orthodontic practice in Spearfish in 2003. We were honored to have Dr. Jesse join the team in 2007. Dr. Jesse and his wife Traci have three children: Kooper, Jozie, and Kanon. Dr. Jesse spends time with his family enjoying outdoor activities. Dr. Jesse has a strong basketball history and still enjoys the game. He also enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, bike riding, tennis and racquetball. Dr. Michael Sawaf

Dr. Michael Sawaf received his DMD degree from Boston University where he remains a member of the Boston University Dental Alumni Association. He practiced general dentistry for 8 years as a former Naval Officer in the Dental Corps. From 2001-2004, he served as an assistant director of the general practice residency program at The Naval Medical Center San Diego. From there he went on to complete his orthodontic residency at Jacksonville University where he received a Certificate of Advance Studies in Orthodontics, C.A.G.S.

Dr.Sawaf enjoys staying on the cutting edge of orthodontics and believes in precision orthodontic care from the first consultation to the final results. His goal is to not only straighten teeth, but to make someone's smile a perfect complement to their overall facial appearance stating, "We can do so much more with the braces today than we could a generation ago. Dr. Bart Benson
Dr Bart Benson became interested in dentistry in childhood. His father was a dentist in Winchester Tennessee, so growing up around dentistry inspired him to become a dentist. He attended college at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and from there attended dental school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Following graduation from dental school he did his specialty residency in orthodontics and dento-facial orthopedics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Graduating in 1988 he returned to middle Tennessee and began practicing orthodontics in Hermitage and Lebanon.

Dr Benson has been married to his wife, Katie, for 30 years and they have 2 great sons. Their oldest son, Jarred, is now in dental school becoming the 3rd generation of Benson dentists. Dr Benson enjoys traveling, cycling, boating and skiing in his free time.

Dr. Collins completed his orthodontic training at Baylor College of Dentistry in 1986 and has been in practice since that time. Dr. Brett R. Coleman
Dr. Coleman is a native of North Ogden, Utah. He attended Weber High School and Weber State University. Following his undergraduate training at Weber State, he attended the University of Louisville School of Dentistry graduating Summa Cum Laude with a DMD degree. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega International Honorary Dental Fraternity for attaining the highest academic standing during his years of study. He continued his residency training in orthodontics at the University of Louisville where he received his Masters in Science degree and certificate as a specialist in orthodontics.

Casey R. Warren, DDS

Dr. Warren graduated as valedictorian of the School of Health and Science at Utah Valley University. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Baylor College of Dentistry, and was awarded the First Scholastic Honors Gold Medal and the Alpha Omega Award for graduating number one in his class. He completed his orthodontic specialty program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he treated patients and received advanced training in various techniques including Invisaling, ceramic braces, self-ligating braces, and temporary anchorage devices. Dr. John Pobanz
Dr. John Pobanz grew up in the Ogden area and completed his pre-dental training at Weber State University and Utah State University. He completed his dental education, with highest distinction, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Dentistry in Lincoln, Nebraska. John W. Graham, DDS, MD
Dr. John Graham received his Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University. He received his dental degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX, and then received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. After medical school, Dr. Graham completed an internship in general surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital followed by training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Following his surgical training, Dr. Graham received his certificate in orthodontics from the University of Rochester/Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York. Dr. Graham is one of only a handful of orthodontists in the United States who is also a physician.

An innovator, educator and in-demand lecturer, Dr. Graham gives presentations worldwide to both doctors and orthodontic staff on the most advanced orthodontic treatment philosophies available. Dr. Graham has several patents pending and has been awarded a US patent for an orthodontic treatment device. He has co-authored multiple orthodontic textbook chapters, and has written many professional journal articles. Dr. Graham holds faculty appointments at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, and the University of Rochester, Eastman Institute for Oral Health. Dr. Graham is a member of numerous professional organizations and is a contributing editor for the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, Orthotown, and is a reviewer for ORTHODONTICS The art and practice of dentofacial enhancement.

Dr. Graham is a past-president of the Arizona State Orthodontic Association, and is a member of the Utah Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Salt Lake District Dental Society and the Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists.

Dr. Graham and his wife Dr. Debbie Graham live in the heart of Salt Lake City and along with their four children love to ski, bike, attend sporting events and spend quality time together.

Daniel L. Foley

Dr. Foley was born and raised in the Beckley area. He attended the College of West Virginia for two years and completed his bachelor's degree in biology at West Virginia University. He also received his Doctor of Dental Surgery and Master's degree in orthodontics from West Virginia University, where he graduated with honors.

Dr. Foley is a board certified orthodontist and has attended several orthodontic courses all over the United States and Canada to further his knowledge about the most innovative techniques in orthodontics.

He shares his knowledge and experience in orthodontics to residents as a part time Clinical Professor at West Virginia University's Orthodontic Residency Program.

He has been the president of the West Virginia Orthodontic Association and the West Virginia Orthodontic Alumni Association. He is also a member in the American Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, West Virginia Dental Association, and the New River Dental Society.

Dr. Foley has a son named Luke and enjoys golfing, scuba diving, hunting, fishing and coaching sports.

Dr. Scott Eckels

Dr. Scott Eckels graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor's degree in Chemistry in 1986. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1990 and his Master's degree in Orthodontics in 1992 from West Virginia University, graduating with honors. Dr. Eckels and his wife Kim keep busy with their three children Logan, Caroline and Olivia. He enjoys running, swimming, water skiing, and is very involved with his church.

Dr. Eckels is past president of the West Virginia Orthodontic Alumni Association, and the Blennerhassett Dental Society. In addition to these organizations, he is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, Southern Association of Orthodontists, West Virginia Orthodontic Association, American Dental Association, and the West Virginia Dental Association.

Wisconsin

Dr. Randall Moles
Dr Randall Moles received his DDS degree from Marquette University and also his MS in Orthodontics from Marquette. He is a past president of the Wisconsin Society of Orthodontists and the local Rotary Club. Dr Moles has been an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthodontics at Marquette in addition to being actively involved in research. He has a number of dentally related patents in his name and teaches orthodontics both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Nicholas Ferri
Dr. Nicholas P. Ferri graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston College in 1999 where he received his B.A. in biology. He earned his dental degree from the University of Michigan in 2003, his Master of Science degree and his specialty certificate in Orthodontics in 2005 from Marquette University. Dr. Ferri is currently a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Midwest Society of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Wisconsin Dental Association, and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society. Dr. Ferri has recently become a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics.

In his free time Dr. Ferri enjoys golfing, alpine skiing, traveling, and taking bike rides with his wife Angela.

Dr. Lisa Sanfelippo
Dr. Lisa Sanfelippo received her Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University in 1985, majoring in Biology and minoring in French. She went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1992, also from Marquette University, while graduating "Cum Laude" and with honors. In February, 2007, Dr. Lisa became a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics. This is the only specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontics.

She was elected into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a National Honorary Dental Society and she is a member of the Jesuit National Honor Society, Alpha Sigma Nu. Dr. Lisa earned her Master of Science degree in Orthodontics in 1994, also from Marquette.

Following graduation, Dr. Sanfelippo worked in two practices in the Milwaukee area over the course of three years. One of the practices was that of one of her orthodontic teachers at Marquette. She went on to start her own orthodontic practice in Franklin, WI in 1999. Dr. Lisa continued to serve the Franklin area for four years. She then joined the wonderful practice of Dr. Moles in 2003, bringing with her the established practice that she had in Franklin.

Dr. Lisa is married and has five children. She manages her and her husband's horse farm, "Traumerei Farm", where she raises young, purebred horses. She is active in showing and competing her horses in Dressage, an Olympic Equestrian sport. Her other interests include antique/classic cars, reading, running and gardening.

Dr. Christian P. Manley

It has been my honor and privilege to practice Orthodontics in the Issaquah/Sammamish area since 1991. I remember the year clearly, not only because I was fresh out of school, but also because my first child was born in April of that same year. During this time, I have been blessed to work with many amazing patients and families. I believe the people and the Dentists I have worked with in this area are the best in the world!

What I love about Orthodontics is witnessing the positive impact it has on my patients’ lives. There are many lifelong benefits. It is very fulfilling to know that I am creating smiles for my patients that they will use, not only at the most important events in their lives, but also every single day. They become much more confident in their socializing and interaction with those around them. It has been my joy to watch smiles develop that are not only healthier, but also more beautiful.

Education
I attended Walla Walla College for my pre-dental education. I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree, Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, and Masters Degree in Orthodontics at Loma Linda University, in Loma Linda, California.

Continuing Education
The field of Orthodontics continues to change and evolve with exciting technology which can mean reduced treatment time with fewer visits, better results, and more comfort to our patients. I look forward to continuing education meetings with my team. These meetings, which we attend at least once a year, teach us how to treat our patients better and more efficiently. It is my commitment to my patients to provide them the best possible treatment for the most beautiful smiles and faces. Family Life

My wife Brenda and I have been married since 1987 and we have loved raising our daughter’s Ellie and Brooke and our son Christian. In addition to family time, I also enjoy cycling, golfing, skiing, traveling and reading.

Dr. Richard Meyer
Dr. Richard Meyer is a native of South Dakota and graduated with honors from Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago. He completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Dr. Rich started his private practice in Rapid City in 1981. He considers all of his patients part of his family. Dr. Rich truly cares about his patients and enjoys his time with them. Dr. Rich and his wife, Gayla, have three children: Chad, Kirsten and Tyler, and six grandchildren. He enjoys taking his grandchildren on adventure trips and teaching them about all the Black Hills has to offer. In his free time, Dr. Rich likes to play racquetball, fly fish, and snow shoe.

Dr. Chad Meyer
Dr. Chad Meyer is a Rapid City native who graduated from Stevens High School in 1990. He attended college at the University of Nebraska and graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Dentistry in 1999. After three years in the United States Air Force Dental Corp, he began his orthodontic residency at Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, NY. Dr. Chad and his wife, Dawn, have three children: Carter, Luke, and Daryn. Dr. Chad loves to chat with the patients, but if you mention biking to him, your appointment might run long. He loves to talk cycling! When Dr. Chad is not taking care of patients, he enjoys taking his kids camping, hunting, and snow skiing. He is also an avid road cyclist.

Dr. Jesse Dana
Dr. Jesse Dana is a native South Dakotan and a graduate of Black Hills State University. He graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. He completed his orthodontic residency at Nova Southeastern University in Florida. Dr. Jesse started his orthodontic practice in Spearfish in 2003. We were honored to have Dr. Jesse join the team in 2007. Dr. Jesse and his wife Traci have three children: Kooper, Jozie, and Kanon. Dr. Jesse spends time with his family enjoying outdoor activities. Dr. Jesse has a strong basketball history and still enjoys the game. He also enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, bike riding, tennis and racquetball. Dr. Jesse loves seeing and talking with every patient when they come in for their appointments. He has never met a stranger!
